Lowdham Colts v Drezden Colts
13/02/10
3 – 1
The game began with Drezden fielding ten men; the eleventh arriving within the first five minutes of Lowdham starting the game. Even with a full squad Drezden seemed to be a different side to the one earlier in the season. Despite this they responded to early Lowdham pressure; playing deep and making goals difficult. One or two efforts from Dane got nowhere and it was Owen who eventually opened Lowdham’s account with a great, tightly angled shot.
Drezden, ignored this early set back and began to prove that they too could move from their own half and exert pressure. A small midfield error was enough and two Drezden throw ins later they were in the Lowdham area. Some shirt pulling and a tripping incident was enough for a penalty decision for Drezden. It was taken; Alex dived in the correct direction, but the ball slipped under his body so putting the teams on an even footing
The rest of the game saw Lowdham slowly exerting their midfield strength, putting Drezden on the back foot; Drezden eventually conceded a free kick which Dane took. Akim was perfectly placed to head the ball neatly in, making it 2 – 1 to Lowdham.
Lowdham were then on top of the game and Drezden were now at the same time conceding space. A throw in enabled Akim to pass to Cam who had time to shoot; a power shot from some distance, but destined for the back of the net. 3 – 1 to Lowdham. There followed a brief moment of drama following a keeper error that presented Lowdham with an open goal possibility, but it was not to be!
A quick thanks to Drezden who provided some entertaining football and to all those who made the game possible.
